the woman who sang the ashita no nadja theme (titled, simply, "nadja!!"), recently died of cancer. D:

read it.

have people always had so much cancer or is it because the environment we live in and food that we eat is now such a mess that it's killing us? it's like cancer is some new epidemic.

I take the Sonic x Sally
Capsule.

For long lasting effective relief against
n00bism and for memorable old fashion love.

I take the Rotor x Bunnie
Capsule.

For the alternative pairing for
Bunnie that to this day is least remembered.

i just HAD to, okay?

Fanart is often done by some fanatic, and they sometimes don't put any decent amount of effort into it. This is not the case. [a comment on this exquisite usagi fanart that, as it should, got a daily deviation on deviantART last year. :D]

i hate that sentiment.
NO, it's just that every little fanbrat thinks they can draw. and they draw for three, four years and STILL suck. that means you're not very artistically inclined, hon. my old stuff was horrible but at least i improved year by year. my stuff isn't evolving and improving as much anymore, because i seem to have reached That Point of Whatever, but i am still improving on technique and style.

i hate how people see a good sailormoon fanart and go "omg, there's such a thing as good sm fanart!" i want to barf. of course there is. REAL PEOPLE actually love sailormoon, not just a bunch of talentless ninnies.

that is, Gratuitous Icon Post. *love*
and yes, i made it. i made 12 archie sonic icons. there's not much to work with. T_T;

also, a rec. i thought i was the only one who liked this pairing. it's not canon, but it just stands out to me.

warning: cheesy plotline and hokey title, but well-written.

i often sit and think, i am 20 years old and in college.
does my love of my fandoms denote immaturity? is collecting my little ponies and enjoying rainbow brite and the star stealer a sign of childishness? am too old to be mesmerized by nadja's flamenco? if i enjoy reading some fandom wank, does that mark me as a socially inept kid who doesn't act her age? should i be beyond squeeing for a cherry/ponyboy fanfic? is shipping for teeny-boppers?

i tend to think so.

but then i remember that there are 30+ aged women writing stories about short, hairy-footed, pointy-eared men in short pants having sex in bag end, and i suddenly feel very mature.

most of my friends, especially my r/l friends, have "outgrown" anime and manga, so i have to force anyone to sit down and check out a new series that i want to share. i have almost no one irl to talk with about my fandoms, because they've all "outgrown" that. they're in college and have real jobs and have a plan to do something with their life. so do i. (well, i don't currently have a job, but i worked all summer.) i swear they all think i'm still a child for loving anime and manga, for still writing and reading fanfic, for having as fun a hobby as fandoms. just because my hobbies are not clubbing or playing sports or other "very social" ones, i am not a socially inept young adult. i just don't find "going out and meeting people" fun. i'd rather sit and talk with someone i already know than hang out with people i've just met.

i watch shoujo (girl's) anime. i like fluffy (GOOD) fanfic and am picky about what i consider "good" fanart. i am addicted to photoshop and i get a kick out of reading some lj drama. i squee for dominic monaghan, my little ponies, kitties, ashita no nadja, and curtis brothers. i am a fangirl, but not in a pervy sense: i hate slash but adore snuggly het. i used to be a stickler for canon, but i've since degraded myself to semi-canon ships. i can give you a ten-minute (at least) lecture why the animorphs series is way too mature to be aimed at seventh-graders. I ENJOY FANDOM and i consider myself a mostly mature young adult, thankyouverymuch.

i finally drew that picture of ponyboy/cherry that's been flickering in and out of my head for a few days.

lots of couple pics that i draw involve some kind of physical affection or some such thing, yet pony and cherry don't have that at all. i just can't draw or write them snogging on any level while still being in-character. it's facinating. these two characters are 100% on the mental/emotional level with each other. it is bizarre to think of them, even with romance-type things involved, holding hands or cuddling or any kind of glompage. it feels rather out-of-character to have them get physical.

the only time i can see such a thing is if cherry (or, in some case, pony) was rather upset and ponyboy would take her hand or put his arm[s] around her, as a comfort (becca... write it?). but i can't see them being touchy unless comfort or something like that was involved. and not while they're so young, 16/17 and 14 like in the book. older. definately when they're grown.

i always enjoyed friend!shipping pony/cherry with a dash of ship in there as well, but i'm becoming ever so fond of them as a ship. ♥ [of course, i still adore canon platonic ponyboy/cherry! yes! :D] i want to icon them from the added scene towards the end of the movie where they see each other at school and she doesn't speak to him. (such perfect casting for them both~~ their eyes are amazing in this scene) i need to icon that. badly.

i wish i at least had something to ink this with. i suppose it must wait until friday evening when i go home to my art supplies. XD;

rapunzel is my favorite fairy tale. i was initially excited at the prospect of her finally getting a disney flick, but i want to cry.

it's computer animated. i hate computer animation. yuck. i'm ticked about that. even worse, it looks like the fricking barbie CG "movies". now i really want to vomit. then i read this:

In a new take on the tale, Rapunzel encounters a modern girl and boy who have been thrust into her world. Witherspoon is being sought to voice the role of the girl, named Claire, who becomes a contemporary version of Rapunzel as she mixes with ogres, witches and other fairy tale characters.

i want to cry.

this is possibly reassuring, but not really.
see a video of some seemingly test animation opening (nothing fancy) here.

seriously, it originally going to be ganked off the shrek style, but i think they decided against it.
see a longer article about the animator here, featuring this image. see what i mean about the dang barbie animation?

god, i hate CG. it looks so STUPID.
i am freaking SICK of shrek.
